Bob Hoo

Shop Steward

Bob Hoo started his career at the CRA in December 2004 at the Hamilton Call Centre. After a seven month lay-off, he returned to the call centre in January 2006 and obtained his indeterminate status in 2011. In November 2018 he accepted an acting assignment in the Collections division where he works in the Accounts Receivable National Inventory (ARNI) program.

He has been active member of UTE since marching in his first Labour Day
parade, helping out in plant gates and monitoring union elections. In
2015, he was asked to become a steward and has since received grievance
training and attended the PSAC Racially Visibility Conference.

Bob believes in the importance of a collective voice that the union
provides. To quote the lyrics from musician Billy Bragg, “But it all
amounts to nothing if together we don’t stand/There is power in a union” .
