Bob Black has been a proud union activist with PSAC and UTE for over 20 years. He began his union activism in 1964 when he walked the picket line with his father during a wildcat strike. He currently sits on PSAC Ontario Regional Council as the representative for Region 6 (Hamilton/Niagara) where he chairs the Health & Safety committee.
He believes that every effort we, as a union, make will make a difference even if it is not seen immediately. He finds union activism to be fulfilling as well as time consuming and a true challenge. He believes that we can work together with our employer locally whereas nationally there is little faith in our employer looking out for the members. He feels it’s necessary to put the rights of the member first because that is who we became activists for; personal agenda’s be damned.
