The PSAC-UTE bargaining team argued for contract improvements in compensation, remote work and other protections at the Public Interest Commission (PIC) hearing on January 27.
Our team made the case in support of a fair compensation package, protections in the context of access to remote work, new protections for union jobs and new scheduling rights, including years of service protections where there is evening and weekend work. It is time the government and the Agency walk the talk when it comes to work-life balance for workers at CRA.
The Agency also spoke before the PIC, presenting proposals that would reduce access to compensation when employees are required to work weekends or have to work after hours.
We pointed out that our team wants improvements in this round, not steps backwards. We are now waiting for the PIC recommendations.
Strike votes
Going on strike is never our first choice. But securing a strong strike mandate from our membership will give us the leverage we need to reach a fair and decent contract. Together, we have the strength in numbers to fight for a contract that makes real gains for our members. This is our opportunity to make a meaningful difference in our workplaces, and we strongly urge you to vote in favour of a strike mandate.
Strike votes for 35,000 PSAC-UTE members will be conducted from January 31 to April 7.
