Board agrees to bypass Public Interest Commission process

The Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board has agreed with PSAC-UTE’s request to bypass the lengthy Public Interest Commission (PIC) process for the CRA bargaining group.

PSAC-UTE requested that the Board bypass the lengthy PIC process after declaring an impasse in negotiations in February. Following mediation in May, the Board determined that a PIC would be unlikely to help the parties reach a deal.

Outstanding bargaining issues include remote work, fair wages, and increased protections for workers’ jobs, including safeguards against the unchecked use of artificial intelligence.

Our PSAC-UTE bargaining team is reviewing the decision and will assess our next steps.
